When a patient has worn down, crooked or cracked teeth, dental veneers are able to transform smiles into beautiful things people want to show off.
Getting dental veneers is very simple and does not take any intrusive procedures to get them. In this article, we will give a brief overview of how veneers could transform your smile into something you are proud of.
How do dental veneers transform a smile?
For people who have not heard about dental veneers, understanding that their smile can be transformed may sound too good to be true. However, with the right preparation, that is very simple, a person can have beautiful bright teeth in a short amount of time. It may seem impossible, but today we will give an overview that shows patients it is very possible with this technology.
Preparing the teeth for veneers
Once a dentist has suggested dental veneers as an option for a patient, and has also ensured there are no underlying issues that could cause problems once the veneers are placed on the teeth, the preparation phase is next. This phase is straightforward and does not require any intrusive aspects to get the teeth ready.
The dentist will have to shave a tiny portion (one-half of a millimeter) of the tooth enamel off. This is taken off to ensure that once the veneer is placed, that it blends in with the other teeth and is not protruding up and rests perfectly in place. The procedure is completed in a dentists office, and only take light local anesthesia to ensure the patient does not feel discomfort from the grinding of the teeth.
Making sure the veneer is a fit
After the dental veneer has been custom made to fit and blend in with the other teeth color, the dentist will prepare the teeth to have the veneer bonded. Since the enamel has already been shaved down, it will take making sure that the teeth color and shape match. After this has been determined, the next step is to bond the veneer to the teeth using a gel that will cement the device in place.
The dental veneer is bonded in place using the cement gel and a light that speeds along the cementing process. After this is done, the patient will have the bright white smile they have been dreaming of having.
Good for years, and stain proof!
Dental veneers are made of a hard porcelain material that is extremely tough. Another benefit is that it is stain proof, and a person does not have to adjust their eating and drinking habits.
