Veneers DentistA Question and Answer Session With a Veneers Dentist

When you are considering getting veneers to improve your smile, you want to hear the facts from a veneers dentist. We are here to provide you with the information you have been wanting regarding a dental veneers placement. We hope this information will help you to understand a little bit more about the veneers process and what you can expect going forward.

How are veneers placed?

Dental veneers will be bonded to the fronts of your teeth with a permanent dental glue to provide beautiful coverage of dental imperfections. Before your veneers are placed, we will remove a very small area of your dental enamel to provide your veneers with a closer and more secure fit to your teeth that will look completely natural.

Will veneers make my teeth more vulnerable to cavities?

Since a small amount of enamel will be removed from the fronts of your teeth by a veneers dentist before we place them, your teeth may be slightly more vulnerable to decay. This chance is only marginal. Once the veneers are properly bonded to your teeth, they will provide protection for your teeth and the vulnerable area.  As long as you care for your veneers and clean them thoroughly with proper brushing and flossing techniques, you should not notice any problems. Also, avoid chewing sugary or acidic foods with your front teeth.

Will veneers cause any mouth sores to develop?

Mouth sores are very uncommon with veneers. We have engineered our dental veneers to be extremely compatible with your gums and the rest of your oral tissue. Please notify us if you feel as though discomfort is developing. This could be due to an improper placement of your veneers.

Will veneers on my top teeth make my bottom teeth and surrounding teeth look more yellow?

We will decide on your veneers color based on a shade guide that we will compare to your teeth. Your veneers and teeth should be very similarly colored following your veneer application. If they appear to be slightly whiter than your teeth, we can provide you with a teeth whitening method that suits your needs.

How durable are dental veneers?

After your dental veneers are placed, they will be strong, resilient, and durable. They will be able to resist damage from most outside forces. You can continue your normal diet, but you should try to avoid placing unnecessary pressure on your veneers by biting your fingernails or chomping down on nuts. Veneers are indeed strong, but they can also be brittle if faced with another rock-hard material.

These questions are just a brief look into the many questions patients ask before their veneers placement. If you have questions outside of these, feel free to ask as they come to mind, and we will gladly answer them. We know that you when you decide to have dental veneers applied to your teeth you will be thrilled with the outcome.  To learn more, visit our veneers dentist office today.
